SiMON Offers a Yacht's Pitch and Roll Angles Pitch and Roll Module |

|
September 2, 2003 - A yacht’s pitch and roll is one of the most important factors in providing comfort for guests and crew. Now, SiMON offers a yacht’s pitch and roll angles with an add-on component that monitors and displays the movements of your yacht relative to the horizon. Four different views provide complete, real-time information for the Captain to trim ballast in order to maintain maximum safety and comfort.
SiMON presents the pitch and roll angles of a yacht’s movements in two graphic views. In addition, SiMON records the yacht’s maximum pitch and roll angles with the latitude and longitude, date, and time from the ship’s NMEA data stream. This information is used to create trend charts that show the specific time of plotted angles against pitch and roll periods. |

How It Works
An extremely sensitive multi-axis sensor measures the smallest movements of a yacht on the planes of Pitch and Roll. This sensor connects to a SiMON Controller that captures data at thousands of times per second and transmits it to SiMON for processing. SiMON immediately provides the Captain a graphic view of the roll of the yacht. |

|
The screen shows the current angle of roll relative to the horizon as well as the maximum angles since the previous reset. Red reset buttons above the digital readouts allow the maximum recorded angles to be reset to zero at any time. SiMON records this information in order to create trend charts for your correction to control comfort.
This unique graphic view of a vessel’s pitching shows the yacht in profile. Moving crosshairs indicate the yacht’s relationship to the horizon. |
![]() Users can customize each view with friendly user settings that control the background, the appearance of the crosshairs, and the circle surrounding them. A line can be solid, dashed, or dash-dot. The circle that encloses the crosshairs can be eliminated. Select another background or change colors to suit your preferences. |

Collect History for Trend Charting
SiMON records maximum pitching and rolling angles during a passage so that you can determine trends. One graphic view displays Pitch and Roll angles as they occur over time on an X-Y chart with time as the X-axis
